Joshua 1:6-9 Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them. “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Do you remember when you were small and wanted a night light when you went to bed? Did you like being alone when you were young? How about the first day of school in kindergarten?
Well all of these terrified me. I could not stand the dark, I did not want to be alone and let’s not talk about kindergarten and first grade. I would go as far as to say, terrified is not a strong enough word.
The Lord tells Joshua there is 3 ways to succeed and one is, BE COURAGEOUS. As a matter fact, The Lord says it 3 times in these few verses. I wonder why He said it so many times. He like us it needs to hear it continuously. Could it be Joshua needed to hear it 3 times? I know I need to hear it a 100 times sometimes depending on the situation.
I can sleep without a night light now, I don’t mind being alone (I actually enjoy it now) but starting new things I still may be a little terrified. I’ll admit it, this Made to Crave journey has been terrifying at times BUT I’M TRYING TO BE COURAGEOUS. I’m going to have days of struggles and days of triumph. On the days of struggles, I must remain Courageous.
It is a daily choice, that may be easy sometimes but most of the time it may be hard. I need to be reminded of Psalm 73:26, “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” God will be my strength when I’m craving those French fries, potatoe chips or brownies. He will give me what I need for my daily portion instead of me choosing those bad monsters.
Dear Lord, Thank you for being my portion. I’m so thankful for having You walk beside me on my daily journey to keep the temple you gave me healthy physically and spiritually. I pray I can be Courageous in this as well as strong. Thank you for your love. Amen.
