Who is in control of your footsteps???

While sitting early in the morning at my sons cross country practice, footsteps came to my mind.  Do we think about every step we take in a day??  Do we think about who may be following our footsteps?  Do we try to follow others footsteps??

It’s easy to follow someone’s footsteps in the snow if we are walking behind them. We can see each place they stepped and step there. We feel secure knowing if they stepped there and kept going I should be fine.

BUT what if they walked through the snow and then we did not follow for a few hours and the snow was falling??  Their steps would be covered up and we would not know where they had been!!!

We sometimes as parents want our children to follow in our footsteps BUT there has been many snows, storms and mudslides to cover up our steps.
Maybe that’s why we are to be Godly parents and push are children to do their best, not our best. We do not want them to walk in our footsteps, but to walk in their own footsteps.
God has a plan for their steps. We need to teach them to follow The Lord’s footsteps. He will not let the snow, or rain, or mudslides hide his steps. He will always be right their beside them. And even sometimes, He may have to carry them.

He has given us a footstep map, THE BIBLE.  We should not give our children our steps to follow, BUT give them THE BIBLE. The Lord is the only persons footsteps our children need to follow!!!
So, are you pushing your children to follow your footsteps or God’s?  Are you wanting them to be what you want them to be or what The Lord wants them to be??
Let your children follow The Lord’s footsteps and make their own impressions in the snow!!!
