“It’s time for us to more than just survive, we were made to thrive.”

Above is a link to the awesome song by Casting Crowns, Made to Thrive.  Please take a moment to listen to the words and open your hearts and minds.

Last week during the Facebook party for the OBS The Best Yes, this song was posted for us to listen to.  After listening to this song, it made me begin thinking about what it means to thrive.

Am I thriving or surviving?

I searched for verses in the Bible that have the word thrive.  There were many, however, the one that caught my attention was Proverbs 11:28

28 Those who trust in their riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf.

Thrive used in this context is a verb which means to grow strongly and vigorously or to prosper or flourish.

I believe to understand this verse, we must remember thrive is a verb which means we need to do something  We do not need to trust in our riches to get us somewhere – we need to do something.

  • Pray!
  • Read!
  • Study!
  • Learn!
  • Spread the Word!

green leafWhen we do, we will thrive like a green leaf.  A green leaf represents life not death.  It is being alive and fruitful.  We need to be alive with the Holy Spirit living each day to flourish.  We need to shine and be bold like that green leaf.  So we need to do more than survive, we need to thrive and do something.

Will you go out today and do more than just survive but Pray?

Will you go out today and do more than just survive but Read?

Will you go out today and do more than just survive but Study His Word?

Will you go out today and do more than just survive but Learn?

Will you go out today and do more than just survive but Spread the Word?

Will you go out today and do more than just survive but THRIVE?

SO WHAT’S YOUR DECISION!

I pray that we all would realize we were made to thrive not just survive.  I pray that I will go out and pray, read, study, learn and spread His word.  Thank you Lord for all you do for me.  Amen!
