This past weekend you were busy all weekend and now you can’t even remember what, you did. Monday – well it was a Monday. Nothing went right. You came home after work and was so ready to crash but….. You had to cook dinner and take your child to a game. You finally got to bed but not till midnight.
Tuesday was almost as bad as Monday except it actually wasn’t called Monday. You were in meetings all day and got nothing done. You came home thinking you can catch up, but no. You have to help your child on a project and your husband wants to talk to you about the Holidays. It’s 11 getting to bed again, so much for going to bed early.
Now, its Wednesday. Finally hump day! You work all day and then come home to cook, laundry, homework, and who knows what else. So much for going to bed early, it’s 10:45 tonight.
Living a busy life everyday, being pulled every which way is so “JOYFUL”. NOT! or is it?
Jesus was in the wilderness for forty days and forty nights and tempted by the devil the whole time. But He never complained. He quoted scripture.
After being brought so many sick people to heal, does He complain? No He continues to preach and teach the Good News.
Jesus was betrayed by Judas and denied by Peter, a close friend? Did he complain because His friends hurt His feelings?& No, He continued to love us and speak of His Father.
Jesus was just as busy as we are today, but He always had time for others, never complained, and was always Joyful. How can we do that?
John 15:11, “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”
My joy is His Joy! We must have HIS joy in us before we can be joyful. How can I stay full of HIS Joy? It’s hard. It’s not easy. We must work at it.
What did Jesus do when He needed some alone time, needed to be filled back up with joy? He went to the mountainside and prayed. He went off alone and prayed. He got up early and prayed.
I think the main key to being full of His Joy is Praying! I’m so glad to know the same Father Jesus went and prayed to on the mountain is the same Father I can pray to. I can have the same joy Jesus has.
Now that has to give you the warm and fuzzy feeling. It sure does me!
