1 Thessalonians 5:16 (NIV) Be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
In this verse in Thessalonians, it clearly gives us three things to do that are God’s will.
- Be Joyful Always
- Pray Continually
- Give Thanks
God wants us to be joyful always. That was and is God’s will for you and me in Christ Jesus then and now.
God made us to pray and give thanks, but I love that God made us and this earth for us to be joyful and enjoy!
He does not say be joyful sometimes, or once in a while. It states ALWAYS! What does always mean? It means all the time, forever.
I am the first to admit it is hard to be joyful all the time. But what steals our joy? The world, people, crisis, sickness can all steal our joy.
God does not want anything or anyone to steal our joy. He did not make us for that. I believe that’s why He said after being joyful always, He said to pray continually. He knew there would be hard times. But He also knew how we could get through those times and stay joyful.
Pray and give thanks in all circumstances. All circumstances means everything and everyone. He knew all circumstances were not going to be joyful but He knew if we prayed and gave thanks we could be joyful knowing He was our Christ Jesus.
We can not do this on our own. God wants us to pray and give thanks to Him and turn to Him for our help.
Will you be joyful always, pray continually and give thanks everyday no matter what you are going through? This is God’s will for us!
