Day 22: The Joy of Healing

MATTHEW 8:1- 3 (NIV).   When JESUS came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him.  A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord if you are willing, you can make me clean.”  JESUS reached out his hand and touched the man.  “I am willing,” he said.  “Be clean!”  Immediately he was cleansed of leprosy.

In this time, leprosy was considered a horrible disease. If you had the disease, you were quarantined and people did not want to be around you. They thought they could catch the disease. You lived a very lonely and sad life.

Imagine for a minute being this person back 2000 years ago while JESUS was walking in earth. You hear there is a man who can heal you. You go out into the city to find this healer. You don’t care about whether people are yelling at you to get away. All you care about is finding the man who can heal you.

You finally find the man. You get on your hands and knees and beg him to heal you. He heals you.  Now how would you feel.

I’m sure there would be tears of happiness, tears of joyfulness, tears of unbelief.

There is no doubt the people JESUS healed were joyful. He asked most of them not to tell anyone. Do you think you could keep that a secret?  I know I couldn’t. I would be singing and dancing and telling everyone I saw.  People would be begging me to shut up.

Now think about this.  Are you saved?  Have you accepted JESUS Christ as your Savior?  If so, should we not be as happy as the man with leprosy?  We are full of sin.  We are full of sickness.  BUT JESUS came and died for us. JESUS came to heal us. JESUS came to give us eternal life.

Go out and spread the Word of how JESUS has healed you.

If you do not know JESUS as your Savior, please accept Him now.  You can do it right where you are. Leave me a comment and I’ll pray for you.
