November – The Month of Thanks

As you know November is the month we celebrate Thanksgiving.  Primarily the United States and Canada are the countries that celebrate it nationally.  It is a day celebrated for giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year.

But wait shouldn’t we be thankful daily for our blessings and not just celebrate one day.   I’m not trying to down play thanksgiving, I’m wanting to look at us being thankful, 365 days a year as Christians.  We have so many blessings to be thankful for we receive daily from JESUS Christ.

The Bible teaches us to be thankful daily and in everything.

Colossians 4:2 (NIV). Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
Hebrews 12:28 ( NIV). Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that can’t be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.
I Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV).  give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in CHRIST JESUS.

Above are some of my favorite thankful verses in the Holy Word but there are many more.  The month of November I’m going to explore verses on thanks, thankfulness, being thankful, and giving thanks.  I’m going to unpack the verses and hopefully bring something out for you and I to take away.

What are you thankful for today?  Have you ever thought about waking up in the morning and only having left what you told The Lord the day before thank you for?  That is life changing.

Let’s begin November by being thankful for JESUS CHRIST being our Savior. Let’s make it a point to be more thankful this month, next month and especially in 2015.

Will you join me on this THANKFUL journey?
