Hebrews 12:28-29 New International Version (NIV)
28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, 29 for our “God is a consuming fire.”
Have you ever been up close and seen a volcano erupt? Hot lava comes out of the volcano and slowly travels down the volcano destroying everything in its path. The lava is fire. Luckily, I have never seen this up close, only on television and where I live we do not have any active volcano’s. However, there are places in the United States with active volcano’s. If you live near one of these active volcano’s, you may have to be evacuated at some point. The lava could consume everything you have. You would lose everything you have which would have to be so sad.
What about earthquakes? Have you ever been somewhere and felt an earthquake? I have not, however, I have seen the stories on television where people grab and hold on to something or get down under something while things around them began shaking and falling. I’m sure this is a very terrifying event. You never know how long it will last. I’m sure when it is over, you are still shaking from the event.
I know of one kingdom that will not be destroyed by lava and can not be shaken. It’s the Kingdom of Heaven. God promises if we receive Him and Jesus Christ and worship Him, we will receive the Kingdom of Heaven.
Are you thankful for the kingdom and God?
We should be thankful daily and worship Him daily with reverence. We have so much to be thankful for even during the bad times of an earthquake or a volcano. We can know this is not our eternal home. Our eternal home is unshakable. Our eternal home is grand. Our eternal home is with Jesus.
This world will crumble and be destroyed, however, God’s kingdom will last forever. If we follow Christ we can be a part of this awesome kingdom that will withstand all the bad stuff. Our hope should be knowing our future is built on a solid foundation that will never be destroyed. Be thankful for the kingdom and build your life on knowing you can be in the unshakable kingdom.
Share with others about the unshakable kingdom and how they can be thankful like you. Do not let your family or friends be left int he consuming fire, but let them be with you in the unshakable and awesome kingdom.
Will you go to God today? Will you tell Him how thankful you are that this world is not your eternal home? Will you tell Him how thankful you are for all He does for you? Will you bow down to Him and worship Him? Will you decide today you will spend eternity in the unshakable kingdom not in the consuming fire?
I pray you will thank God and let Him into your heart.
Now, “Come, Worship Him” with this song.
