Enter with Thanksgiving

Psalm 100
A psalm. For giving grateful praise.

1 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his[a];
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Sunday mornings at my home can be really tough. We have an early contemporary service at my church that begins at 8:45. My son would rather go to this service until it’s time to get up. Sunday mornings are usually the only morning him or I are able to sleep in. Trying to get up, get ready and get to church by this time can be very challenging.

We finally get up and make it, however, I’m not sure we are all smiling when we get there. I’m sure when we walk through the doors at church we are not entering with thanksgiving as we should some mornings.

I’m sure I do not have the only family that have questionable Sunday mornings. I really think the devil is a morning person more on Sundays than any other day. The devil always seems to be up and causing problems for our Worship time with God.

I’m assuming these gates of thanksgiving our His gates when we walk into His building we are worshipping in. I’m sure there are times when we cross the threshold of the doors, our hearts are not the way they are suppose to be.

After reading this, it made wonder if we should not have a moment of prayer and thanksgiving before walking into worship. We need to clear our minds and be ready to praise Him as well as thank Him for everything.

We are lucky here in America, we can worship without fear of being killed or shot or anything. There are some countries where Christians do not have this freedom. We as Americans should enter our House of Worship with much praise and thanksgiving. We should be ready to celebrate like no other celebration.

We could all decide that from now on, before entering Gods House of Worship to stop and THANK HIM. We then can enter with hearts to praise and worship Him with our whole heart.

I know the hustle and bustle of the morning may be crazy, BUT I’m so happy to know I can go to Him for the peace and praise that can complete me.  Begin thanking God before you begin praising Him and we may receive a wonderful blessing in return.
