Direction – Not left or right but straight ahead!

Proverbs 3:5-6New International Version (NIV)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
    and he will make your paths straight.[a]

I would like to begin this post by thanking a fellow friend and blogger, Sarah Travis.  (Please visit her blog – she is a great writer).

Did you ever want to be a teacher because your mom was?

Did you ever want to be a nurse because your favorite aunt was?

Did you want to be a fireman just like your dad?

Do you want to be a movie star or model because they look like they have it all?

We all look at others and want to be them or what they are.  But God did not make us to all be alike.  Now yes, I understand we need teacher, nurses, and firemen.  I’m just saying we should not pursue those careers just because of them, we should pursue the career because it is what we want.

I have figured out tonight after reading her blog, I’m not sure what I want to be when  grow up.  I’m not sure I have ever known what I wanted to be.  Unfortunately, I am not able to work now due to health issues.

So what’ next.

Well, I’m about to be honest – I DON’T KNOW but one thing…..

I’m going to trust God.  I’m going to pray to God.  I’m going to lean on God.  His way can not be wrong.

Today begins Lent.  I had been wondering what I was going to do for Lent this year (last year was first time I ever did).  I am going to stop looking to the left and right.  I am going to trust and pray to God for direction for my future.  I am going to stop looking at trying to be like others and just be myself.  I know this has been a problem for me my whole life, but I know with God’s help I can be myself.

I pray this is the year I lean on God and submit to God.  He will then make my path straight not to the left or right!!
