What is God Calling You To Do Today?

What is God Calling You to Do Today

How many people call you during the day?  Well, better question in today’s technological world, how many people text you during the day?  How many people message you on social media?

Years ago, we did not have cell phones, or texting, or Facebook.  We either called someone on a house phone or wrote them a letter.

Times have changed a lot, but one thing has not.  God still calls you today the same way He called you 5, 10, 15, 20 or 2000 years ago!

He doesn’t have a phone to call us on, even though, we all would love to.  His texting and messages was done many years ago when the prophets and writers wrote the verses and chapters of the Bible.  We can go there anytime and read a text or message from God.

It’s easy to listen to a friend call you or text you.  They tell you about parties, about school, about problems, about everything.  They send you pictures.  And guess what – you listen, you read, you respond.

What about when God calls you?   “Whoa,” you say.  “You told me God did not have a phone a few lines ago.”

You are right, he doesn’t have a phone, but He can still call you.  He doesn’t have a Facebook account but He is still your friend.  He doesn’t have Twitter, but He can still tweet you.  He doesn’t have Instagram, but He can still show you beautiful things He created by looking around.

So, how does He do it?  He talks to us through the Holy Spirit.  He talks to us through other Christians.  He talks to us through miracles.

He talks to us all the time – it’s just whether you are listening or not, or whether you hear Him calling and answer.

God has plans for each of us.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Proverbs 16:3 The Message (MSG)
Put God in charge of your work,
then what you’ve planned will take place.
God will be with you in your plans if you put Him in charge of your plans.

God is calling you to do something for Him.   God has good, no great plans for you.

  • Are you missing out on the blessings God has for you because you are not listening?
  • Are you missing out on the blessings God has for you because you are scared?
  • Are you missing out on the blessings God has for you because you have doubts?
  • Are you missing out on the blessings God has for you because others talked bad about you?

Proverbs 23:18 Living Bible (TLB)

17-18 Don’t envy evil men but continue to reverence the Lord all the time, for surely you have a wonderful future ahead of you. There is hope for you yet!

God just sent you a message – “There is hope for you yet!”  We all have fears, doubts, and questions.  But God is there for us.  God tells us so many times in His Word, do not worry.  Worry is caused by fears, doubts, and questions.

Matthew 6:25-27 New International Version (NIV)

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]?

God tells us through many verses in Matthew not to worry about life, food, clothes, or being arrested.  He will take care of us.

I’ll be honest, I worry.  We all worry.  But we do not need to. The time we are worrying, we could be doing other useful things for God’s kingdom.  We should help each other.  We should love each.  We should pray for each other.

So, God has a plan for you!  I have showed you He will provide.  He doesn’t want you to worry.  What is stopping you?

Get on your knees and give it to the Lord.  He will help you!  He will love you!  He has great blessings for you!

Are you missing out on your blessings and your great plans, because you did not hear the call from God, because you were texting, tweeting, liking, commenting, posting, and looking at others instead of HIM?
