13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.
What does the word praise mean to you? Who do you praise?
Depending on our age and our time in our life, these two questions above may be answered in different ways. A teenager who just past his driver’s education class may be full of praise. An adult who just finished their college and has received their masters finally, may have plenty to praise. The doctor who just brought the new parents good news about their newborn baby, may be praised by the parents.
Praise means from the dictionary in my NIV bible “to give honor to or to worship.” When I think about the word praise, I think about happy things. I think about lifted arms to the sky. I think about tears of happiness. I think about a beautiful blue sky. I think about God.
I’m not saying I may not give my child praise when he does good or my spouse when he takes the trash out, but praise to me just seems to be a word I like to leave for the one who deserves honor – God!
Today, I really would like to give some PRAISE! I was really worried this morning about a health issue. I had prayed to God about it and asked others to pray. I knew it was in God’s hands. Now that the results are good, I want to PRAISE HIM!!
But how do I do it.
Get on Twitter and tweet all night. Go on Facebook and tell everyone the good news. Go Instagram and put great pictures of God.
I think what I really need to do is do what I did this morning, pray. I need to get on my knees pray and PRAISE HIM. I need to thank Him and tell Him how thankful and happy I am for what HE did.
I’m not saying that after I get on my knees and PRAISE HIM I can’t go to Social Media and scream, but is that not where we always want to go first.
Can I let you in on a secret? I did. I did tell everyone the good news, but did I tell him THANK YOU AND PRAISE HIM like I should have.
I’ll be the first to admit I’m not perfect. But I want you to know you don’t have to be either. God is still there waiting for me to PRAISE HIM. He will still be there for me next time, but I bet He is hoping next time I lift my hands in my car to HIM before I type away on my phone keyboard.
I know people may wonder why “did she admit this in writing on her blog.” I want everyone reading this to know I’m real just like you. I make mistakes too. But I also want to tell you God is still there for me, just like He is for you. You may have made mistakes, but guess what, God is there for you.
You may have drifted away from God, but guess what He is still there for you.
You may have not worshiped with Him in a while, but guess what He is still waiting for you.
You may not have PRAISED HIM in a while, but guess what He is still waiting.
It’s not too late! Go to the Best Friend, the Only Friend who is ALWAYS THERE and raise your hands. PRAISE HIM
I have added one of my favorite songs here so you can listen to it while you PRAISE HIM.
