Genesis 2:1-3 (NIV)

Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

How many times have you started a conversation with someone and it went like this?

“Hey, how are you?”

“Busy, tired.”

“Me, too.”

Hundreds, thousands, millions of times.  I know  I would love to have a $1.00 for every one of them.  When I was younger (I’m only 42), days of my life seemed to be so much slower than now.  When you are young, things look different but are they really that much different?  I totally believe that the day and age we are living in has made life so much busier, faster than ever before.

How do we expect to slow down or slow our minds with everything and every one going so fast???

Internet goes at warped speed.

Speed Limits on interstate are 70 or 80.

Fast food restaurants want to have the fastest drive thru ever.

Technology is so much more defined and available – no more call waiting – just send a text, instant message, or email.

speed of things

In the Bible the word rest is found 267 times in the NIV version, rested is found 54 times and resting is found 23 times using the website  This must be something God wanted to stress a lot.

I’m going to take the month of October to dig deeper into God’s Word.  We will explore why speaking of rest was so important to God.  Why we should do it.  How it benefits us. What we can gain from it. I pray you receive a blessing from this and you are able to find more time to rest from this fast pace world we call life.

I’m excited to be teaming up with other Bloggers to do a 31 Day Challenge in October.  This is my second year participating and I’m so excited.  Please join me and other bloggers as we accept the challenge.
