Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.
What do you want most after a long day of work? Rest. Peace. Quiet.
I’m sure we have all said, “I’ll be so glad when this day is over so I can rest.”
We all need rest and at times want it very badly. We are so tired we can not even think straight or put one foot in front of another. Don’t you think God may have felt this way as well. In six days, He created EVERYTHING!!! Now talk about tired. We have nothing on Him.
It is interesting to find that even, God, rested after completing His work. He knew life would be busy. He knew life would be tiring. He knew life would have its ups and downs.
God not only created everything in the world, but He showed us what to do on the 7th day. He made it “Holy” and He “Rested”.
What do you do on the 7th day?
I’m sure there are some of us who have to work, police, fire, nurses, etc. But we still should find time to rest. God did not make our bodies to go and go and go. He made our bodies to take time to rest.
During this month, I will continue to explore what God’s Holy Word says about rest. We do not have to feel bad about resting, as long as we do not become lazy.
In the meantime, read Genesis 1-2:3. See what all God did and then what He did.
Dear Heavenly Father, who made the entire universe. May I take time to rest and not only rest my body but rest my mind and soul in you. I pray that anyone reading this will come to know they can receive rest and strength from you. Thank you for our many blessings and forgive us of our sins. I ask this in the Precious Name of Jesus. Amen!!!
