“Mom, I don’t feel good. My tummy hurts,” said the sick little child to her mother.
“Oh, no, you are burning up. I will take you to the doctor today,” the loving mother said to her sick child.
When you do not feel well, you go to the doctor. If you, God forbid, have been in a wreck the medics may take you to the hospital to be checked on.
I googled how many hospitals were in the USA and I found that the 2013 AHA Annual Survey showed there were 5,686 registered US hospitals*. It also stated that the total number of admissions into a registered US hospital during this survey was 35,416,020*.
Some people do not mind going to a doctor or hospital when they are sick and not feeling well.
But , how many people are going to church weekly for Spiritual Healing?
I’m not sure I really want to look up these numbers. I did google it and what it found made be very sad. So as to not make you sad, I will not pass those numbers on.
What I am going to pass on, is what we as Christians should do to help people go to church for Spiritual Healing.
I’ll be the first to admit, there have been Sunday mornings I would rather stay in bed or at home and not go to church. But I promise you if I woke up Monday morning with a fever, I’m sure I would run right to the doctor, where I”m sure it will cost me a co-pay and we will not even talk about the time. Then I have to wait and see if the doctor is going to prescribe me some medicine or not. Go get the medicine. That’s more time and money. And then wait to see how long it takes for me to feel better.
Now going to church instead, may cost me time and money possibly, but I personally think I would feel better a whole lot faster than it takes when I go to the doctor and need to feel better.
The preacher may prescribe me some medicine – scriptures and things to study the next week.
The preacher may tell me I should live life a little differently, just like the doctor may tell me to stop smoking or eat healthier.
The preacher may tell me what I need to do, just like the doctor may.
So why is it we think about what the doctor does and most of the time do it BUT if the preacher tells us some of the same ways, how to live, how to spend our money, we just talk about him or don’t listen.
Now I promise you, I”m stepping on my own toes today. I actually had to lift them up a little because I was hurting.
We can read the bible and there are people just like us.
People who sinned.
People who doubted.
People who were sick.
People who did not think they were capable of doing anything for the Lord.
People who are hard-headed.
People who think their way is better.
The times may have changed, but humans, we are still the same. We are still sinful. We will still doubt. We will still be hard-headed.
But just like the bible says, we have someone we can go to. We have someone who is there for us.
We have someone who has already wrote the prescription for us on Calvary’s Hill in blood not in pen.
Why don’t we run to God for Spiritual Healing just like we run to a doctor for physical healing?
I’m going to make more of a point to run to church each week for Spiritual Healing.
I’m going to make a point to get on my knees when I feel depressed or upset for Spiritual Healing.
I’m going to go to the Greatest Physician that has ever been for Spiritual Healing and physical healing when I feel bad!
What about you?
