The Parable of the Pearl Merchant – Day 6

Verses containing the Parable:

Matthew 13:45-46

We are moving right along to day 6 of the #31DaysofWriting on the #31DaysofJesusParables and the Parable of the Pearl Merchant. This parable is very similar to the previous Parable of the Treasurer.

In this parable, the Kingdom of God is the Pearl Merchant. The merchant payed the ultimate price to purchase the perfect pearl. God sent Jesus to pay the ultimate price for us – dying on the cross for our sins.

We are all looking for pearls in this day and age. Dream jobs, homes, vehicles, and stuff are our pearls. But the only pearl that can supply true value is the Pearl we can find in Jesus Christ. There will be no other pearl that compares to His Love, His Faith-fullness, and His Grace.

Today we can learn as we did yesterday. There is nothing in this world more valuable than Jesus and the Kingdom of God. We may think the worldly possessions are valuable, but in the end the only thing that will stand will be us in front of God. The pearls we have accumulated in the world will mean nothing if we did not accept the Finest Pearl – Jesus.

I pray I choose the Pearl of Jesus now, so God will choose me on the day of judgement. What about you?

Today’s lesson was short but I would like for you to take a few moments and look around. Decide if you are spending too much time looking for the wrong pearls and if you are change it. Today is the day. We may not have tomorrow.
