Verses containing the Parable:

Matthew 25:14-30

Today in #31DaysofWriting on the #31DaysofJesusParables, we are studying the Parable of Loaned Money from the book of Matthew again.

The man before leaving on his journey brought his servants and gave them their “property” or “talents”. After the man left, it was then the servants decision as to what to do with his talents. The servant with 5 talents and the servant with 2 talents “invested” their talents and doubled them. The servant with 1 talent did nothing. He just waited for the man to come back.

“Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness.” Matthew 25:21, 23

These words were spoke from the man to the servants who invested their talents when he came back. He was thrilled with what they had done. He gave them even more to be in charge of.

But for the servant who was lazy, he received nothing and had the talent removed from him and given to the servant with 5 talents. He thought by not doing anything with the talent and saving it, he was helping the man but he was not. The man could at least have gained interest from the bankers. He was not responsible with the little he was given.

LESSON LEARNED:

God has given each of us talents. Some God may have given 1 and some God may have given 5 to. God expects us to use the talents He gave us to better His Kingdom. We are to use these talents daily.

Do not think of only yourself and keep the 1 talent God gave you. Do not take that talent and let it waste away. God would rather you take the 1 talent and double to 2 than do nothing. He wants us to enjoy the talents He gave us.

If you do as you should with the talents, when you meet God in heaven wouldn’t you love to hear what these servants heard.

“Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness.” Matthew 25:21, 23

I pray I’m using the talents God gave me. Are you using your talents? Do you not know what your talents are? Spend time with God praying and asking.  God will show you your talents and let you know how to use them.

God doesn’t want your talents to be a waste.  God wants your talents to double and triple. God wants to give you more if you do as you should with the little He has given you now.

What are you doing? What will you begin doing?
